It is not possible to change everything overnight: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that it is not possible to change everything overnight. He made this comment at a book launch and discussion meeting organized at the CIRDAP auditorium in Segunbagichar in the capital on Saturday (July 26) morning. Fakhrul said, ‘We cannot change everything overnight. Democracy must be allowed to go through its process. There will be ups and downs. But it must be allowed to go on.’ He also said, ‘We want to make Vision 2030 on behalf of the party. During the movement, we gave 31 points for state formation. We are trying to move forward like this.’ At this time, the BNP Secretary General also mentioned that qualitative changes are needed in the current state structure and economic structure. He said, ‘The 1971 Liberation War is a big issue in politics. We had many aspirations at that time. But later they were not fulfilled. Democracy could not function properly. ‘It was not allowed to continue.’ Fakhrul, who has suffered the most in the last 15 years, said, ‘The word democracy has been completely blown away. False cases have been filed against 6 million people. Our leaders and activists have disappeared. In this way, the political structure has been completely destroyed.’ Stating that there is not much reason for the countrymen to be disappointed, he said, ‘A lot of talk is coming on social media. This media is consuming the society. Mobs are being created through it.’ Regarding the tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump, Fakhrul said, ‘Trump’s trade tariffs are going to put Bangladesh in great danger. To overcome this, special discussions need to be held with the political parties.’
