It is better to talk less about PR: Press Secretary
The Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, Shafiqul Alam, said that PR or the existing election system will be determined by political parties. He said, ‘It is better for the government to talk less about it.’
He said these things at a program to present the results of a survey by research organization ‘Innovation’ at the conference room of The Daily Star in Karwan Bazar in the capital on Sunday (September 21).
About the election survey, Shafiqul Alam said, ‘The survey statistics show that the people have confidence in the government. In the survey, 95 percent of people want to vote, which means that the upcoming election will be an inclusive election. No one in Bangladesh will be able to question the election. The vote will be good if everyone votes.’
Earlier today, the organization released a survey about the upcoming election. It mentioned that 56 percent of the country’s people are still not aware of the PR system. 21.8 percent want the PR system and 22.2 percent do not want it.
10,413 respondents participated in the survey. According to 69.9 percent of them, only an interim government would be able to organize fair elections.
However, the survey found that religious minority communities have relatively less positive attitudes about their ability to organize elections.
