Issues that could heat up the National Parliament in the first session
The first session of the 13th Parliament after the much-awaited national elections after the mass uprising is set to be held next Thursday (March 12). The session is scheduled to be held at 11 am under the chairmanship of BNP Standing Committee member and veteran politician Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain.
The Speaker of the new Parliament will be elected on the first day. Who will be the Deputy Leader of the Parliament and who will be the Deputy Speaker will also be known. The fate of 133 ordinances issued during the tenure of the interim government will also be decided in this session. According to the constitution, there is an obligation to convert the ordinances into laws within 30 working days of the first session of the Parliament. Otherwise, they will automatically be annulled.
Political analysts say that this Parliament will not be like any previous traditional Parliament. The historic responsibility of implementing the public desire for reform that has arisen after the 24th People’s Uprising rests with this parliament. Many important issues, especially the implementation of the July National Charter, will be settled here.
The political parties have signed the draft July Charter of the outgoing interim government. The political parties representing them are responsible for passing this charter in parliament. The National Parliament may become heated in the first session, especially on the issue of the ‘Constitutional Reform Council’. However, all eyes are now on the parliamentary session to see whether this heat turns into a crisis. After the elections, those elected by the government party have taken the oath only as members of parliament. And the members of the opposition party have taken two oaths. One as a member of parliament and the other as a member of the Constitutional Reform Council. The members of the opposition party say that two rules cannot operate in the same country. Therefore, everyone is waiting for the great moment of the beginning of the session; through which field will politics begin in the National Parliament. At the same time, the parliament will become lively.
