Israel’s stern warning to Iran
Israel’s Mossad intelligence chief David Barnier has issued a stern warning about Iran’s nuclear program. He said Israel must ensure that Iran does not restart its nuclear program. He made the warning six months after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked Iranian nuclear facilities in the 12-Day War, the Times of Israel reported.
Speaking at a ceremony honoring Mossad intelligence officers in Jerusalem, Barnier said, “As a country sworn to destroy Israel, Iran has enriched uranium to a level that has no explanation – other than the goal of building military nuclear weapons. They will move quickly on that path if given the opportunity.” He said, “The nuclear program has been severely damaged. Our responsibility, in close cooperation with the United States, is to ensure that this program is never activated again.”
At the time, the Mossad chief praised Israel’s sudden military operation. According to him, this operation proves the extensive penetration and information gathering capacity of Israeli intelligence inside Iran. Barnier also said that the ayatollahs’ regime understood in a moment that Iran is completely open and accessible. Yet they have not abandoned their goal of destroying Israel. Expressing doubts about a diplomatic solution with Iran, he said that Iran wants to mislead the world again and implement a bad nuclear deal. We will not allow such a bad deal.
Western countries have long accused Iran of developing nuclear weapons. Although Iran denies this, it has enriched uranium beyond peaceful uses, obstructed international inspectors and expanded its ballistic missile program. At the beginning of the war, Israel pressured Iran to take firm steps towards weaponization.
According to Iran, more than 1,000 of its citizens were killed in Israeli strikes in the June war. In response, Iran fired more than 500 ballistic missiles and nearly 1,100 drones at Israel. According to Israeli health officials, 32 people were killed and more than 3,000 were injured.
