Israel’s military chief resigns
The head of the Israeli military, Major General Harji Halevi, has resigned. He resigned on Monday, the British news agency Reuters reported.
The report said that he resigned, accepting responsibility for his “failure” to prevent an attack by the Palestinian resistance fighter Hamas on October 7, 2023.
In his resignation letter released by the army, Halevi said that he was leaving after accepting responsibility for the army’s failure in the October 7 attack. However, Haveli also said that he was leaving at a time of “significant success” for the army.
Israel has been carrying out continuous attacks on the Palestinian territory of Gaza for more than 14 months. More than 45,000 people have been killed in this brutal attack, most of them women and children. However, Israel has still not been able to defeat the independence-seeking Hamas fighters.
