Israeli strikes again in Gaza, 5 Palestinians including journalists killed
Israel has again attacked the Palestinian Gaza Strip amid the ceasefire. At least five Palestinians have been killed. Among the dead are journalists and children. 15 others have been injured. Despite the US-brokered ceasefire, Israel continues to carry out one-on-one attacks from tanks and drones and repeatedly violates the ceasefire, resulting in increasing casualties and destruction. TRT World reported.
Medical sources in Gaza reported that two people, including a child, were killed in Israeli shelling in the al-Tufah area of Gaza City. The 15 injured were taken to al-Ahly Baptist Hospital. In addition, another Palestinian was killed in Israeli shelling in the Zaytoun area of eastern Gaza City. Later, photojournalist Mahmoud Wadi was killed in an Israeli attack in the central part of Khan Yunis. Doctors said he was killed in a drone strike in an area not under Israeli control under the ceasefire agreement. “Mahmoud was taking pictures in a safe area… but Israel does not fulfill any promises or commitments,” said Wadi’s father, Issam.
Israeli shelling wounded 17 people, including women, in the Al-Daraj School area in central Gaza City, where displaced people had taken shelter. The Gaza Civil Defense said five more people were wounded in the Al-Tuffah area and rescue workers, with the help of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Gaza (UNAMA), were evacuating many trapped people. Witnesses said Israeli forces destroyed many buildings and structures in the northern Beit Lahia area, which is still under Israeli military control. Gaza City, Khan Yunis and the Rafah area were the main targets of the Israeli attacks.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said at least 356 people have been killed and more than 900 injured in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire went into effect on October 10. More than 70,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 2023, most of them women and children. More than 171,000 others have been injured. The Gaza government media office said the death toll of journalists in Gaza rose to 257 after Wadi’s killing. It accused Israel of carrying out “deliberate attacks and targeted killings” against Palestinian journalists.
