Israel to award Trump highest civilian honor: Report
US President Donald Trump is set to visit Israel. The country’s media reported that he will be awarded Israel’s highest civilian honor during the visit.
Citing local Israeli media, Al Jazeera reported that US President Donald Trump will be informed of the decision to award him the country’s highest civilian honor upon his arrival in Israel by President Isaac Herzog.
Herzog said that the award is being given to Trump in recognition of his “unwavering support” for Israel. These include the signing of the Abraham Accords, the “historic ceasefire agreement”, ensuring the release of Israeli prisoners and steps such as the US attack on Iran.
The Jerusalem Post and Yanet News reported that Herzog will inform Trump of the decision during their meeting in the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, on Monday (October 13).
Trump is also scheduled to address the Israeli parliament on the same day.
Earlier, as he departed Washington for Israel on Sunday night (October 12), the US president said, “You can see that the (Gaza) war is over.” He also said that the Middle East will “return to normal.”
