Israel returns 30 Palestinian bodies, signs of torture visible
Israel has handed over 30 more Palestinian bodies under the ceasefire agreement. Many of the bodies showed “clear signs of torture and inhuman treatment,” the Gaza Health Ministry said in a statement.
The Health Ministry said in a statement that “the bodies were handed over through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).” The Times of Israel reported that the statement added that “many of the bodies showed clear signs of tying ropes, blindfolding and beatings.”
According to the ministry, Israel has returned a total of 195 Palestinian bodies since October 14, of which only 57 have been identified. Forensic tests are not possible due to the destruction of Gaza’s laboratories and the long-term blockade. As a result, families of the victims are trying to identify the bodies of their relatives by looking at various marks on clothing or bodies.
