Israel has issued new instructions to the army to limit military activity in the Gaza Strip to defensive operations only. Israeli media reported that the Israeli political leadership has ordered the army to stop the ‘occupation’ of Gaza City.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel is preparing to immediately implement the first phase of Donald Trump’s plan.
Israel’s military chief held an overnight meeting with top military and intelligence officials, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.
On September 29, the White House announced a 20-point plan to end the Gaza war. The proposal calls for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of all Hamas hostages, a phased withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, and the disarmament of Hamas in exchange for the release of Palestinian political prisoners held by Israel.
Hamas has agreed to the proposal and has promised to release the hostages.
