Israel launches new attack on Yemen’s energy sector

The Israeli military (IDF) said on Sunday (August 17) local time that it had carried out an airstrike on an energy infrastructure facility used by the Iran-backed Houthis south of the Yemeni capital, Sanaa. According to Israeli media, the Hajiz Power Station was the target of the attack. “The Israeli forces carried out an attack on an energy infrastructure deep inside Yemen that was serving the Houthi terrorist regime,” the military statement said. However, the statement did not specify which facility was targeted. The Houthi Al-Masirah TV reported, citing a civil defense source, that the attack had been carried out on the Hajiz Power Station, located south of Sanaa. However, there were no immediate reports of casualties.
