Israel confesses to killing Haniyeh.
Israel has, for the first time admitted to the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, the country’s defense minister said.
Haniyeh was killed in a targeted attack at a house in Tehran, Iran in July. He had traveled to Tehran on the invitation of the inauguration of Iran’s new president Massoud Pezeshkian accompanied by his bodyguard who also died due to the attack.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz was further quoted as saying in a statement that Israeli forces would also “kill” the leadership of Yemen’s Houthi rebels.
“We will strike the Houthis hard and assassinate their leadership, just as we did in Tehran, Gaza and Lebanon with Haniyeh, (Yahya) Sinwar and (Hassan) Nasrallah, and we will do the same in Hodeidah and Sanaa,” the Israeli defense minister warned in the statement.
Meanwhile, Houthi military claimed to have run two drone strikes against Israel. Houthi spokesman Yahya Sari, in a televised address, said that one drone strike on a military target in Ashkelon was successful. Another drone strike was also carried out in the Tel Aviv area.
