Israel closes Ben Gurion airport after Yemeni attack
Israel’s main airport, Ben Gurion, has been closed after a missile fired from Yemen hit it. Israeli media outlet Channel 12 reported that the Israeli military (IDF) intercepted a missile fired by the Yemeni-based Houthi militia. Israel closed Ben Gurion airport after the attack.
The Houthis, meanwhile, said they launched the missile strikes in response to Israeli strikes on Gaza.
The Israel Defense Forces said the Israeli Air Force (IAF) had intercepted a missile fired from Yemen shortly after sirens sounded in several areas of Israel. However, Ben Gurion airport was closed as a precaution and all flights were canceled.
The Iran-backed Houthis have frequently launched drone and missile attacks on Israel. Most of the missiles have been intercepted by Israeli forces, but last month a drone launched by the Houthis evaded Israeli air defenses and hit the tourist town of Eilat, injuring 22 people.
