Israel attacks Hezbollah base
Israel has attacked a base of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah in violation of the ceasefire. Although Israel claims that Hezbollah was the one who violated the ceasefire terms first. This information was revealed by a report by the US media Voice of America.
The Israeli military said on Friday that it had carried out attacks targeting the Bekaa Valley along the Syria-Lebanon border at night.
The army said that these sites included underground weapons manufacturing facilities and another place from which weapons are supplied to Lebanon.
Earlier on Thursday, Israel claimed that it had intercepted a Hezbollah surveillance drone. They said this was a “violation of the ceasefire agreement” between Israel and Lebanon.
Israel and Hezbollah signed a ceasefire agreement in late November last year. As a result, the deadly conflict that began during the Gaza war in 2023 ended. The agreement was supposed to pull Israeli troops out of Lebanon on January 26.
However, last week the United States claimed that the agreement gave Israeli troops a 60-day deadline to withdraw, which would remain in place until February 18. This extended the previous deadline of January 26.
Israel has carried out several attacks on Lebanon since the ceasefire was extended. The latest drone attack injured at least five people in the southern Lebanese town of Majdal Salem.
