Israel announces Gaza ceasefire re-establishment after 45 killed
Israel has announced a re-establishment of a ceasefire after heavy bombardment of the Palestinian enclave in Gaza. Earlier on Sunday (October 19), Israeli forces carried out attacks on various locations in Gaza throughout the day, killing at least 45 people, the Times of Israel reported.
Israel said two of its soldiers were killed and three seriously wounded in a Hamas attack in Rafah on Sunday morning.
Although Hamas said it was not aware of the clashes in Rafah, the occupiers nevertheless carried out attacks in various locations in Gaza.
Re-establishing a ceasefire later in the day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said, “In accordance with the instructions of the political level and following a series of attacks in Gaza, the Defense Forces have resumed implementation of the ceasefire.” which Hamas violated.
The Gaza Media Office reported that at least 97 Palestinians have been killed and 230 injured in attacks by militant groups since the ceasefire came into effect last Friday (October 10).
The organization also said that Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement 80 times since the ceasefire.
According to data from the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 68,159 Palestinians have been killed and 170,203 injured in Israeli attacks since October 2023.
