ISPR identifies Bangladeshi peacekeepers killed in terrorist attack in Sudan

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has identified the Bangladesh Army peacekeepers killed in a drone attack by terrorists on a UN peacekeeping mission base in Sudan’s Abyei region. This information was given in a post on the ISPR’s verified Facebook page on Sunday (December 14) afternoon.
The post said that a separatist armed group launched a drone attack on the Kadugali logistics base under the UN peacekeeping mission in Sudan’s Abyei region between 3:40 and 3:50 pm local time on Saturday (December 13). Six Bangladeshi peacekeepers on duty were martyred in the attack. Eight peacekeepers were injured.
The martyred peacekeepers are Corporal Md. Masud Rana (Natore), Soldier Md. Mominul Islam (Kurigram), Soldier Shamim Reza (Rajbari), Soldier Shanto Mandal (Kurigram), Mess Waiter Md. Jahangir Alam (Kishoreganj) and Laundry Worker Md. Sabuj Mia (Kurigram).
The injured peacekeepers are – Lieutenant Colonel Khondaker Khalequzzaman, PSC, Ordnance (Kushtia), Sergeant Md. Mostakim Hossain, Bir (Dinajpur), Corporal Afroza Parvin Iti, Signal (Dhaka), Lance Corporal Mohibul Islam, EME (Barguna), Soldier Md. Kabir Hossain (Barguna), Soldier Mosa. Umme Hani Akhter, Eng. (Rangpur), Soldier Chumki Akhter, Ordnance (Manikganj) and Soldier Md. Manazir Ahsan, Bir (Noakhali).
It further said that 8 injured peacekeepers are being provided with necessary treatment. Among them, Soldier Md. Mejbaul Kabir has already undergone successful surgery as his condition is critical and he is currently under close observation. The remaining 7 injured have been transferred to a helicopter for better treatment and all of them are out of danger.
The ISPR post said that the Bangladesh Army strongly condemns this brutal terrorist attack. The sacrifice of the martyred peacekeepers will be a bright and glorious sign of Bangladesh’s commitment to establishing world peace. The Bangladesh Army expresses its deep condolences to the bereaved families of the martyrs and wishes the injured a speedy recovery.
