Islamic Foundation DG and Jamiatul Falah Mosque Devotees Exchange Views
Leaders of Jamiatul Falah Mosque Development and Devotees Council exchanged views with Islamic Foundation DG A.S. Salam Khan. The meeting was held at the mosque’s conference hall this Saturday afternoon. The Director General heard about the mismanagement and problems of the mosque from the devotees. Later, he said that he would take immediate action in this regard. He mentioned that the foundation has a huge budget but it was not known that there has been no development of this mosque in 16 years. Those who work here are also not covered by government benefits. No action was taken in their regard in the past. He said, I am announcing that some important works including the ablution facilities, toilets, painting of the mosque, and renovation of the mosque’s mehrab will be done soon.
Among the devotees present were senior politicians and freedom fighters Ekramul Karim, Khorshedur Rahman, Yasin Chowdhury Liton, M. A Hamid, Alhaj Dilshad Ahmed, Abdul Awal, Jasim Uddin Himel, Iqbal, Firoz, Abdus Shukkur, Professor Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Dr. Zafar Ullah, Hafez Salamat Ullah, Shafiq Ahmed, Mainuddin Mithu, Shahabuddin and others. It is worth mentioning that the Jamiatul Falah Development and Musalli Parishad was formed with Chittagong City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain as the president, veteran politician Muktijuddha Ekramul Karim as the vice-president and Md. Khorshedur Rahman as the general secretary.
Yasin Chowdhury Liton said in his speech that the previous government did not develop this mosque in 16 years. We are disappointed to see the poor condition of this mosque. Politician Abdullah Al Noman took many steps for the development of the mosque on behalf of the BNP government at that time. But the mosque’s poor condition was created due to various mismanagement during the previous government’s tenure. The condition of the ablution facilities, toilets etc. is very pathetic. People come here to perform ablution and become even dirtier. Khorshedur Rahman said that this mosque needs to be developed quickly, otherwise it will be difficult for the worshippers to offer prayers here. He sincerely thanked the Director General of the Islamic Foundation for coming to Chittagong to listen to his speech and assured of overall cooperation.
In his speech, the brave freedom fighter Ekramul Karim said that you are exchanging views with us from Dhaka; for this, I sincerely thank you. He said that martyred President Ziaur Rahman donated this huge land for the mosque at a nominal price of one taka and built the mosque. But the officials who benefited from the past have leased this land to a private company called Max at a nominal price and have brought the mosque to ruin. Cracks have appeared in the walls of the mosque due to the movement of heavy vehicles on the land of this mosque. If the lease is not cancelled immediately and Max is evicted, it will be difficult to maintain the mosque. The meeting was attended by the mosque’s Khatib Maulana Abu Taleb Mohammad Alauddin, Imam Maulana Ahmadul Haque and Maulana Jalal Uddin, the director and assistant directors of the Islamic Foundation, among others.
