Iranian President’s Open Letter to the People of the United States

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has written an open letter to the people of the United States. In it, he said, “In modern history, Iran has never chosen the path of aggression, expansion, colonialism or domination. Iran has never started any war before. However, it has repulsed those who have attacked Iran with great determination and courage.”
The letter was published on Iran’s state-run Press TV on Wednesday (April 1). Pezeshkian wrote that Iran is one of the oldest and most continuous civilizations in human history in terms of name, entity and identity.
Claiming that external interests are behind the portrayal of Iran as a ‘threat’, Pezeshkian said, “Showing Iran as a threat is not in line with historical or visible reality. Such a perception is mainly the product of the political and economic whims of those in power.”
Pezeshkian claims that this is being done out of the need to create an ‘enemy’ to legitimize their pressure, maintain military dominance, sustain the arms industry, and control strategic markets.
He added, “Attacks on Iran’s electricity, energy, and industrial infrastructure, as well as all critical infrastructure and the general population, are war crimes under international law. The consequences of such actions will not be limited to Iran or the Middle East, but will spread far and wide.”
