Iran warns of retaliation against US bases if attacked

Tehran has warned that if the US attacks Iran, it will retaliate against US bases in the Middle East. A senior Iranian official confirmed the matter to Reuters on Wednesday (January 14). Meanwhile, some military personnel at Al-Udeid, the largest US air base in Qatar, have been advised to leave the base by this evening.
In the past few days, President Trump has been publicly threatening to intervene in Iran. Although he did not give any specific details about the attack. In an interview with CBS News on Tuesday, Trump said that the way the protesters are being tortured will not be accepted. We will take strong measures against Iran only if the detained protesters are sentenced to death. Iran has warned me before. I have destroyed the country’s nuclear capabilities.
The senior Iranian official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Tehran has called on regional US allies to prevent Washington from attacking Iran. He said Tehran has told allies that if the United States attacks Iran, US bases in those countries will be targeted.
Meanwhile, three diplomats told Reuters that some members of the US military have been asked to leave US air bases in the Middle East. However, there is no sign of a large-scale withdrawal of troops like before the Iranian missile attack last year. However, there was no immediate response from Qatar’s foreign ministry when contacted for comment. It is worth noting that at least 2,600 people have been killed in the ongoing anti-government protests, according to human rights groups.
