Iran-US meeting on ceasefire in Islamabad today
A high-level US-Iran meeting is going to be held in Islamabad, Pakistan today (April 11). The Tehran delegation arrived there on Friday night. US representatives are also on their way to Islamabad. Tight security measures have been taken in Islamabad and Rawalpindi for this most important meeting in history.
US Vice President JD Vance and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff are participating in today’s talks. Parliament Speaker Bagher Ghalibof and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are participating from Iran. Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Muni will mediate.
Iranian representative Bagher Ghalibof said that they are ready for a deal. However, they do not trust the US. Meanwhile, when asked what he told Vice President JD Vance before going to Islamabad for ceasefire talks, Trump said, “I wished him well.”
Regarding the deal with Iran, he also said that there will be no nuclear weapons. At the same time, he claimed that he believes that regime change has already taken place in Iran. Earlier, the head of the US negotiating team, JD Vance, said that if the Iranians are sincere in negotiations, they are also ready to extend a hand of cooperation.
