Iran announces new supreme leader

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s son Mojtaba has been elected as Iran’s new supreme leader. Iran International reported this information on Wednesday (March 4). The media outlet reported that Iran’s Assembly of Experts elected Mojtaba as the new leader under pressure from the Revolutionary Guard, the media outlet reported.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in an American and Israeli attack, will be buried in Mashhad. It is a holy city for Iranians. The Fars News Agency reported this information today. The attack targeted the 86-year-old Khamenei on Saturday morning. He was the country’s supreme religious leader for 36 years before his death.
Khamenei was also born in the city of Mashhad. His father will be buried there at the Imam Reza shrine. However, Fars News did not say when he will be buried. It is known that Khamenei said before his death that he should be buried at the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad.
