Iran announces ceasefire by firing six missiles in one hour
Iran has announced the start of a ceasefire by firing six missiles at Israel in one hour. On the other hand, Israeli media also reported that the ceasefire has come into effect.
On Tuesday (June 24), Iranian state media Press TV reported that a ceasefire has begun between Israel and Iran after several missile attacks on Israeli territory.
Meanwhile, Israel’s Channel 12 and Ynet news channels said that the ceasefire between Iran and Israel has come into effect.
In addition, after Iran and Israel agreed to a ceasefire, US President Donald Trump also said that ‘the ceasefire is now in effect’. The US president made this information in a post on his own Truth Social.
In the post, Trump also said, ‘Please do not violate the ceasefire!
Although Iranian and Israeli media announced the ceasefire, no one in the country has officially confirmed the information about Trump’s agreement.
Hundreds of people have been killed in Iran and dozens in Israel in the past 12 days of conflict.
Meanwhile, the two countries have been exchanging attacks since early Tuesday. Al Jazeera says Iran launched six missile attacks across Israel in an hour.
The Israel Defense Forces said most of the Iranian missiles were intercepted. However, a missile hit an apartment building in Beersheba, killing at least four people and injuring several others.
On the other hand, Israel also retaliated in Iran. CNN says that Israel attacked various parts of the Iranian capital Tehran early Tuesday local time.
CNN, reviewing several images of the attack, says that black smoke was seen rising in the sky over central Tehran.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that “Israel and Iran have agreed to a complete and total ceasefire.” He made the announcement on his own social media account, Truth Social.
However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi later said that there has been no agreement on a ceasefire or cessation of military operations so far. He added, “However, if Israel stops its illegal attacks against the Iranian people by 4 a.m. local time in Tehran, we have no intention of continuing the counterattack.”
