According to the synoptic weather conditions, the deep depression located in the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent areas has moved northwestwards and intensified into Cyclone ‘Finjal’. It was located in the same area (11.0 degrees north latitude and 82.2 degrees east longitude) at 3 pm on Friday. It may move further northwestwards and cross the north Tamil Nadu coast by noon today. However, its extension is extending up to the north Bay of Bengal.
On the other hand, a special notice issued by the Meteorological Department’s Storm Warning Center said that the seaports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been asked to lower the distant warning signal number one and instead display the distant warning signal number two.
