‘India’s ruling class is engaged in anti-Bangladesh lies’.

Information and Broadcasting Advisor Nahid Islam said, ‘India’s ruling class is engaged in divisive politics and anti-Bangladesh lies. India’s ruling class and Hindutva forces do not want democratic relations and harmony between the people of the two countries. Delhi is trying to rehabilitate the Awami League by raising the smoke of minority oppression.’

The information advisor said this in a statement on his verified Facebook and X account on Tuesday night.

In the statement, written in English, he said, “Delhi is trying to rehabilitate the fascist Awami League and disrupt the democratic and nation-building process of Bangladesh by raising the smoke of ‘minority oppression.’”

The information advisor said, “We have been emphasizing to the Indian government from the beginning that Bangladesh must stop looking at it through the Awami League’s perspective and establish a new relationship based on justice, fairness and mutual respect.”

He said, “Bangladesh has historical and cultural ties with West Bengal, Tripura and Assam; they are our stakeholders. During the ongoing mass uprising in Bangladesh, students from Kolkata and Delhi expressed solidarity with us and protested against Sheikh Hasina’s atrocities.’

Noting that Bangladesh is committed to ensuring full civil rights, dignity and security of all minority communities, including Hindus, he said, ‘Minorities faced the highest level of oppression during the Awami League’s tenure, yet Delhi has unconditionally supported the Awami League.’

He also mentioned that India has not only failed to ensure the rights of its own minorities, but has also given shelter and support to the Awami League, a party that oppresses and massacres minorities in Bangladesh.

The advisor said, “The Indian government is at risk of undermining common democratic values by continuing to provide shelter and support to Sheikh Hasina, a fugitive responsible for genocide and child murder.”

Nahid said, “We must not forget that the stability and integrity of India are inextricably linked to the stability and integrity of Bangladesh.”

Noting that the BJP is trying to make Bangladesh an internal political issue in India, he warned that if it does so, it will be detrimental to India’s internal politics.

The advisor said, “Anti-Bangladesh and anti-Muslim politics will not serve India’s national interest or contribute to its unity. Therefore, we call on India to stop spreading misinformation against Bangladesh and maintain harmony and respect for democracy.”
