Indian police arrest two Bangladeshis
Indian police have arrested two Bangladeshis who entered India through the Chapainawabganj border area. BSF and Indian police chased four herdsmen from Devipur village in Narayanpur union while they were crossing the border in the early hours of Tuesday (January 6). At that time, Indian police arrested both of them.
The detainees are Khairul Islam (30) and Md. Momin Ali (25) of Devipur village. The other two who were with them at the time of the incident are Md. Babu (22) and Pithu alias Babu. It is learnt that one of them has taken shelter in a relative’s house inside India and the other returned to Bangladesh after being chased. Lt. Col. Kazi Mustafizur Rahman, commander of the 53rd BGB battalion in Chapainawabganj, confirmed the matter.
He said, “Indian police have arrested the two. On the other hand, one is staying inside India and the other has returned to Bangladesh.” The BGB said the detainees crossed the border illegally to bring cows sometime at night. At that time, the BSF chased them along with 7 cows and seized the cows.
