Indian national detained while entering Bangladesh by river

An Indian national has been detained while crossing the border river in Kaliganj, Satkhira using a special tactic. He was detained at around 11 pm on Tuesday (October 28). The arrested person is Bireshwar Dasgupta (45), a resident of Madhyamgram police station in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, India.
According to BGB sources, Bireshwar crossed the Ichamati and Kalindi rivers into Bangladesh with the help of a piece of wood and a boat. Five-liter empty water bottles were tied around the tank, which was used to keep it afloat.
Locals said that he crossed the Basantapur border in the dark of night and reached the Kheyaghat area of ​​Nazimganj by swimming for about two kilometers along the Kankshiali river. When the locals became suspicious of the tank, they went near it and saw a person inside. Later, he was arrested and handed over to the Basantapur BGB camp.
Kaliganj Police Station OC Mizanur Rahman told us that the BGB arrested him and handed him over to the police station. A case has been filed against him on charges of illegal entry. During interrogation, he said that he had made a box and entered the river. Later, the tide swept him away and he went to Bangladesh. He also said that preparations are underway to send the detained Indian national to court.
