Indian High Commissioner meets Home Minister

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed met Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Shri Pranab Kumar Verma for the first time after assuming charge as Home Minister. The meeting was held at the Home Minister’s office on Sunday (March 1). Responsible sources in the ministry said that the Indian High Commissioner arrived at the Secretariat at 10:50 am today to attend the meeting with Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed. The meeting lasted till 11:45 am.
Although this meeting with Pranab Verma was called a courtesy call, it is learnt that several important issues including the border of the two countries, Indian IT system, security of the Indian embassy in Bangladesh and issuance of visas were discussed. This is Salahuddin Ahmed’s first formal meeting with the Indian High Commissioner after assuming charge as Home Minister. It is learnt that mutual interests and security issues of the two countries dominated the discussions.
