Indian goods worth 2.5 crore taka seized
Indian goods worth 2.5 crore taka have been seized from Habiganj. The seized goods include illegal Indian medicines, henna, liquor and a truck used for smuggling. The process of handing over these goods to the relevant drug control and customs authorities is underway.
The BGB seized these goods by conducting raids at various places throughout the day on Saturday (March 28). BGB Lieutenant Colonel Tanzilur Rahman said, these goods were seized by conducting raids at various places based on intelligence information. Our raids will continue.
The BGB said that based on secret information, the BGB conducted a raid on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in the Muktijoddha Chattar area of Madhabpur upazila yesterday morning. At that time, the BGB stopped a truck loaded with suspected illegal goods and searched it. A large quantity of illegal Indian medicines and henna was recovered from under the broken cargo of the truck.
In addition, 23 bottles of Indian liquor were recovered from the Teliapara tea garden area of the same upazila. On the other hand, 47 bottles of Indian liquor were seized from Kunjaban area of Srimangal upazila. The BGB said the estimated value of the seized goods is Tk 2.4 crore.
