Imran Khan sentenced to 14 years in prison

A court in Pakistan has sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan to 14 years in prison in a land corruption case. His wife Bushra Bibi was also sentenced to seven years in prison in the same case. This information was revealed in a report by Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera.

The report said that the judge announced the verdict in a temporary court set up inside the Adiala Central Jail in Rawalpindi on Friday. In addition to the prison sentence, Imran was fined 1 million Pakistani rupees and his wife 5 million Pakistani rupees.

Imran Khan has been imprisoned in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi since 2023. Tight security arrangements were made around the Adiala Jail surrounding the verdict in this case. Bushra Bibi was arrested from the courtroom before the verdict was announced.
