Implementation of the recommendations of the Reform Commission based on the consensus of political parties.
The interim government will implement the recommendations of the Reform Commission based on the consensus of the political parties, said Legal Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul. He said this at a press conference organized at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The advisor said that discussions with political parties will begin in mid-February on the report given by the commission. Based on the discussions, the government will move towards implementing the recommendations of the commission. Its implementation will depend on the consensus of the political parties.
This morning, the reports of the Constitution, Election System, Anti-Corruption Commission and Police Reform Commission were submitted to Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
The Legal Advisor said that a decision will be made based on discussions and consensus with political parties whether minimal reforms will be made or the expected comprehensive reforms. And if there is consensus on minimal reforms, then which recommendations will be prioritized in the minimal reforms will be identified.
He expressed hope that the interim government will be able to complete the entire work of implementing the recommendations of the Reform Commission report.
Asif Nazrul said the government will start formulating laws and regulations based on discussions at various levels.
Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor on Environment, Forest and Climate, said the reforms agreed upon with the political parties will be implemented. However, all parties will give importance to implementing the spirit and aspirations of the July mass uprising.
Stating that each commission worked independently, Rizwana Hasan said that four commissions submitted their reports today and the other two made several proposals.
Syeda Rizwana Hasan mentioned that a notification will be issued tomorrow identifying where the reports should be prioritized. She added that the full report will be available by January 31.
Local Government and Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan called for cooperation from all parties in implementing the commission’s recommendations, saying that permanently abolishing the fascist system is an important aspect of the July Revolution. I hope that the aspirations of the July coup will be realized through the implementation of the recommendations of the Reform Commission.
