Illegal fuel worth Tk 8 lakh seized in Hatia, Noakhali, 4 arrested

A Coast Guard operation in Hatia, Noakhali has arrested 4 people with illegal fuel worth Tk 8 lakh. The operation was conducted on the Meghna River adjacent to Nalchira Ghat in Hatia Upazila on Saturday morning (April 11).
Based on a confidential information, a team from Hatia Coast Guard Station conducted a special operation at around 6:30 am. In the operation, 4,800 liters of petrol and 2.15 liters of diesel brought in by evading duty from a foreign oil tanker were seized, with an estimated value of Tk 8 lakh. Four people, including two engine-powered wooden boats used for fuel transportation, have been arrested.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan said that the process of handing over the seized fuel and the detainees to Hatia Police Station for legal action is underway. Such operations will continue in the future to prevent smuggling and maintain market stability.
