If the Consensus Commission fails, it will be everyone’s failure: Ali Riaz
The Consensus Commission is not a separate entity. So if the commission fails, it will be everyone’s failure. Which has no chance of happening. This was said by the Vice-Chairman of the Commission, Professor Ali Riaz. He said this in his opening speech on the 14th day of the second phase of the dialogue with political parties at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Tuesday (July 15). Professor Riaz said that the commission was formed to support the efforts of political parties. That is what the commission is trying to do. Therefore, everyone must succeed together. He said that the measure of this success is whether we can all agree together. Whether we can agree on structural reforms. The Vice-Chairman of the Commission said that we have agreed on some issues. Everyone has agreed on some issues in the initial discussions. And some are unresolved, which will continue to be discussed. We will have to take decisions on these issues in the next few days. He said that everyone should feel our responsibility and accountability in taking this decision. Let us remember how we got to this point. What are the expectations of the people in this process? What role will we play in fulfilling those expectations? The discussion, moderated by Monir Haider, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, was also attended by Consensus Commission members Safar Raj Hossain, Justice Emdadul Haque, Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman and Dr. Ayub Mia.
