‘If India does not send Hasina back, nothing can be done’
Interim government’s foreign affairs advisor Md. Towhid Hossain has commented that nothing can be done unless Bangladesh’s ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is convinced to be sent back to India. However, he said that efforts can be made to convince the Indian government to send her back.
The foreign affairs advisor said these things while talking to reporters at the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday (December 10). Regarding whether Sheikh Hasina, who has taken refuge in India, will stay there or not, Towhid Hossain said that there is no information in the diplomatic channel about whether she (Sheikh Hasina) is leaving India and going to any other country.
Responding to a question from reporters whether the Director General of Defense Intelligence or DGFI will be closed, the foreign affairs advisor said that institutions like DGFI exist in all countries. So it is not easy to close it. The advisor also talked about the visa-related complications of different countries. He said that Bangladesh’s visa-related problems will not be solved until the production of fake documents or documents is stopped. And the issue of issuing student visas is entirely the jurisdiction of the countries concerned.
Regarding the opening of new missions abroad, the advisor said that this is a time-consuming matter. Although approval has been given to open many missions, it is not possible to start them right now due to financial reasons. Also, when asked whether there is a possibility of forming a new alliance with Pakistan and China in South Asia, excluding India, the foreign advisor did not comment on this for now.
