‘I did not get any work from the AL, now I am for the sheaf of rice’
The dismissed Awami League leader of Bhedarganj Upazila and former UP Chairman Alhaj Yunus Ali Molla has officially joined the BNP in Shariatpur. He was the religious affairs secretary of Sakhipur Police Station in the upazila and the former chairman of North Tarabunia Union.
He joined the BNP from the Awami League at a rally of the Sardar clan in the North Tarabunia area of Sakhipur Police Station in Bhedarganj Upazila on Sunday evening (December 7). BNP’s nominated candidate for Shariatpur-2 constituency Shafiqur Rahman Kiran was present as the chief guest at the event. This has led to severe criticism among Awami League leaders and activists on social media. Some are calling him ‘Mirzafar’.
In the video that went viral at that time, Yunus Ali Molla said in his speech, ‘I was the chairman in 2016, but I was not given any work. Later, I got angry and did not fulfill my duties as chairman for 5 years. Then I saw that there was no development in the area. Later I joined hands with Awami League again (became chairman). I developed the area – built schools, madrasas, dams. Now Hera (Awami League) has fled, what should I do? Can I do anything? Now Kiran Bhai is in the field, we are with Kiran Bhai. Is my decision right? Are you all happy? I am with you, InshaAllah.’
He further told his leaders and activists, ‘From today, everyone will take to the field. Kiran Bhai, we understand nothing but paddy husks. The previous MPs did not wash themselves in milk. Kiran Bhai is a good man. You will be on his side, vote for paddy husks.’
