Husband arrested for trying to burn his wife’s body after killing her

Police have arrested a lawyer named Hossain Taifur in Jamalpur on charges of trying to burn his wife’s body after killing her. The incident took place in the city’s Daripara area at 1 am on Friday (March 6). According to the relatives of the deceased, the deceased wife, Tahmina Akhter Tania, is a mother of two children and her husband Hossain Taifur is a Supreme Court lawyer. Both the children were at her grandmother’s house at the time of the incident.
Police said that there was a family dispute between Tahmina and Taifur, who were married 15 years ago. Initially, it is believed that as a result of this, her husband Taifur killed Tahmina with a sharp weapon. After the murder, an attempt was made to burn Tahmina’s body. At that time, the neighbors came to know about the matter and informed the fire service, who came and extinguished the fire and the police came and recovered the body. Later, with the help of locals, the accused husband Taifur was arrested.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) of the district, Yahya Al Mamun, said, “Upon receiving the news of the incident, police members immediately reached the spot and with the help of locals, first arrested the accused. Later, after the autopsy, the body of the deceased was sent for autopsy. Initially, it is believed that the murder may have been committed due to a family dispute. Investigation is underway.”
