Husband arrested for murdering wife in Shariatpur
A husband, Karim Munshi, has been accused of hacking his wife, Sonaban Bibi, to death over a family dispute in Jajira, Shariatpur. The police have arrested the husband in this incident. Jajira Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mainul Islam confirmed this information on Tuesday (July 29) afternoon. Earlier, the incident took place on Monday (July 28) night in the Boro Gopalpur area of Gopalpur Union of the upazila. According to local and police sources, Karim Munshi and Sonaban Bibi of Boro Gopalpur area of Jajira upazila had a long 50-year marriage. They had two sons and daughters. A year ago, the two children died of diseases one after the other. Since then, both the husband and wife have been suffering from mental problems. On Monday night, an argument broke out between the two, and Karim Munshi has been accused of hacking his wife, Sonaban Bibi, to death with a sharp weapon. Neighbors came to know about the matter and informed the police. Later, along with recovering the body of the deceased, Jajira Police Station arrested the killer’s husband. Jajira Police Station OC Mainul Islam said, “We recovered the body of the woman after receiving information. The husband has been arrested in this incident. He said that legal action will be taken in this regard.”
