Humayun Kabir talks about Tarique Rahman, hinting at his return to the country
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is returning to the country this year. Humayun Kabir, his foreign affairs advisor, told Sangbad on Wednesday (August 6) that he may return to the country by November, around the elections in February. He also said that the acting US ambassador to Bangladesh met with Tarique Rahman in London in the second week of July to find out his thoughts on the elections. Various issues including the development of bilateral relations were discussed. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman met with the interim government’s chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus in London on June 13. In that meeting, various political parties, including BNP, were assured about the election roadmap. However, there are various rumors about when BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will return to the country. There is also a lot of interest among political parties in his return to the country. In this situation, Humayun Kabir, the foreign affairs advisor of Tarique Rahman, confirmed to Soom Sangbad that he will come to the country this year. He also hopes for the election schedule in November. He also said that the acting US ambassador to Bangladesh, Tracy Jacobson, met with Tarique Rahman in the second week of July to find out his thoughts on the election. He said that the meeting was held in London due to US interest. Humayun Kabir also said that during the time of the fallen Awami League government, there was an obstacle to meeting or meeting with the top leaders of the BNP from the international community, which has now been removed.
