How much rain fell in Dhaka in just two hours?

Residents of the capital witnessed heavy rain at 7 am. The Meteorological Office recorded 52 millimeters of rainfall in two hours. On Sunday (August 17), light rain started at 6:30 am. Then, heavy rain started at around 7 am. Working people and school-going students suffered. Representatives of Soom Sangbad said that the rain stopped after 9 pm in various areas including Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, Bangla Motor, but the roads were still waterlogged. City residents are reporting inconvenience in traffic. The Meteorological Office said that 52 millimeters of rainfall was recorded in the capital from 7 am to 9 am. In addition, the agency also said that light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected in Dhaka and surrounding areas until 1 pm. During this time, winds may blow from the south and southeast at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour. The day temperature may generally decrease by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Office says that a low pressure area is likely to form in the northwest and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal by Monday (August 18). As a result, rainfall is likely to increase across the country in the next few days.
