Housewife’s throat slit in Karnaphuli, husband hanging in next room
Police have recovered the throat slit body of a housewife from a house in Karnaphuli, Chittagong. Her seriously injured husband was found hanging in another room of the house. The incident took place on Tuesday (September 2) evening at Haji Urban Ali Road, Ward No. 7, Ichanagar, Charpatharghata Union of the upazila. The deceased housewife’s name is Reshma Akhter (19). She is the daughter of Md. Yusuf of Charjabbar Police Station in Subarnachar Upazila of Noakhali. The injured husband’s name is Md. Ibrahim (20). Their family has an eight-month-old daughter. Ibrahim’s home is in Sylhet. The deceased’s family members said that Reshma and Ibrahim married them voluntarily a year ago. After that, they lived separately. On August 20, they went to the house of Reshma’s aunt, Peyari Begum, in Karnaphuli Upazila. They were allowed to stay in one room. Both Peyari Begum and her husband are employed. This evening, Peyari and her husband returned from work and found the door locked. Later, they found Reshma’s body with her throat slit in one room and Ibrahim hanging from a tin pole in another room. On receiving the information, Karnaphuli Police Station recovered Reshma’s body and sent it to the morgue of Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Ibrahim was rescued in a serious condition and admitted to the hospital. Karnaphuli Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Sharif said that efforts are underway to unravel the mystery of the incident.
