Housewife’s throat slit body recovered from her house’s tubewell

Police have recovered the throat slit body of a housewife named Shahida Begum (26) in Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram district. The body was recovered from Ganirchar village of Narayanpur union of the upazila at around 8 pm on Wednesday (January 14). The deceased Shahida Begum is the wife of Azizul Islam of that village. She is the mother of two children.
Narayanpur Union Parishad Chairman Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the incident. UP Chairman Mostafizur Rahman said that Azizul Islam is a small tea shop owner by profession. He runs a tea shop in Kalachar Bazar next to the village. He was in the shop with his elder daughter last night. Shahida Begum and their two-and-a-half-year-old child were at home at that time.
According to local residents and UP members, neighbors heard loud noises and buzzing in Shahida Begum’s house at around 8 pm yesterday. Later, they quickly went to the house and found Shahida Begum’s body lying with her throat slit near the tube well. Her small child was sleeping at the time.
UP member Kabirul Islam said that the girl’s throat and hands were brutally slit. No murder weapon was found in this incident. Moreover, the tube well and the surroundings of the house are surrounded by tin. There is no way for anyone else to easily kill and escape. The murderer must be someone known. He demanded a fair investigation.
Kachakata Police Station OC Soel Rana said, I have received information from the Union Parishad Chairman that a woman’s body has been recovered with her throat slit. I am going to the spot with the police. Legal action will be taken in this incident after the investigation is completed.
