Housewife commits suicide after quarrel with husband

A housewife named Monalisa Munni (20) committed suicide by hanging herself in the capital’s Banani area due to a family dispute, her family claims. The incident took place at around 12 am on Friday (November 7) in a tin shed in Niazuddin area of ​​Banani.
She was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in an unconscious state, where doctors at the emergency department declared her dead. The deceased Monalisa is the daughter of Harun-ur-Rashid of Char Kashia village in Raipur upazila of Laxmipur. She lived with her husband Rana in a rented tin shed in Banani.
Monalisa’s husband Rana said, “We were having a fight over family matters. At one point, Monalisa got angry and went to her room and locked the door. After calling out many times, I broke the door and found her hanging from the ceiling fan with a scarf wrapped around her neck.”
Inspector Md. Faruk, in-charge of the police camp at DMCH Hospital, told us, “It has been confirmed by the doctor that Monalisa died on the spot. The body has been kept in the morgue and the matter has been reported to Banani Police Station.”
