Horrific bus accident on the highway, driver killed
A bus driver was killed in a head-on collision between two passenger buses on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway. At least 18 people from both buses were injured in the incident.
The accident occurred in front of the Nayahat gas pump in the Mansa-Badamatol area of Patiya upazila on Friday night (September 19). The two buses were twisted and twisted after the collision.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Arafat (25), son of Nurul Hossain of Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar. He was the driver of the Eagle Paribahan bus that met with the accident.
Two of the 18 injured are said to be in critical condition. They are being treated at the Upazila Health Complex and Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital.
Rifatul Islam, brother of the deceased Arafat, said, “My brother is the driver of the Eagle bus. I am the helper of that bus. We were going from Chittagong to Cox’s Bazar. A bus carrying Saudia from the opposite direction hit us. I myself was also injured.”
Confirming the matter, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Chamek Hospital Police Outpost Nurul Alam Ashek said, “Those injured in the collision between two buses have been brought to the hospital. They are undergoing treatment. However, the doctor on duty has declared one of them dead.”
