Hindutva parties protest again in front of Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi
Hinduist parties Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrangi Dal have protested again in front of the Bangladesh High Commission in the Indian capital New Delhi. After the protest began on Tuesday (December 23), more than a hundred people gathered in front of the High Commission. They tried to break the police barricade by shouting anti-Bangladesh slogans.
Security was tightened around the Bangladesh High Commission since morning in view of the protest program. When the protesters tried to break the police barricade and enter the High Commission, the police lathi-charged them.
According to Indian media reports, the entire area adjacent to the Bangladesh High Commission has been surrounded with three-tiered barricades. A large number of police and paramilitary forces have been deployed to ensure security. Protests have been going on in India for several days over allegations of atrocities on the Hindu community in Bangladesh. The murder of a youth named Dipu Das in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, is being cited as the main reason for the protests.
