Hezbollah rocket attack on Mossad headquarters
The Lebanese-based armed group Hezbollah has claimed that the rocket attack targeted the headquarters of Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad. The news agency Reuters reported that the attack was carried out on Wednesday, quoting the armed group.
According to the Israeli military, the rocket bomb launched from Lebanon crossed the border and entered Israel. However, they claimed that the rocket bomb was not heading towards the Mossad headquarters, but towards the civilian area of Tel Aviv.
It was also reported that Israel intercepted the missile using its air defense system before it hit the target. As a result, no damage or casualty was reported in the attack.
Earlier on Tuesday, Israel carried out massive airstrikes in Lebanon. The death toll in the attack has already exceeded 550, the Lebanese government said.
On October 7 last year, Hamas, the armed organization of the Palestinian liberation movement, fired thousands of rockets at Israel from the besieged Gaza Strip. 1,400 people were killed in Israel. After years of oppression in the besieged Gaza Strip, the Israeli forces intensified. More than 40,000 Palestinians have lost their lives and more than 90,000 have been injured in the military operation since that day. Most of the casualties were civilians. In such a situation, a ceasefire is being called around the world.
There have been several incidents of violence along the Lebanese border since the start of the Israeli offensive in Gaza. Both countries have evacuated civilians from the border. Lebanon’s northern border is controlled by the Iran-backed armed group Hezbollah. They have warned of attacks several times. Hundreds of fighters have been killed so far in the conflict with Israel. However, this time crossing the border area, the two countries have started attacking from each other’s border well inside the mainland. The death toll is gradually increasing.
