Heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in 4 divisions

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in four divisions of the country including Dhaka in the next 24 hours. There is also a risk of landslides. This information was revealed in a warning message signed by Meteorological Department meteorologist Dr. Md. Omar Farooq on Thursday (July 10) morning. It said that due to the activity of the southwest monsoon, heavy (44-88 millimeters) to very heavy (188 millimeters) rainfall is likely to occur in some places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions in the next 24 hours from 10 am. Due to the very heavy rainfall, there is a risk of landslides in some places in the hilly areas of Chittagong division. In another warning message from this meteorologist, it is said that there is a risk of storm over Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Dhaka, Faridpur, Kushtia, Jessore, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Comilla, Noakhali, Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar by the evening. Gusts or squalls may blow from the southeast or east at a speed of 45-60 kilometers per hour. Along with this, there is a possibility of rain or thundershowers. In this situation, the Meteorological Office has asked the river ports of 15 districts to display warning signal number one.
