Hearing on framing charges against Hasina and three others today
The hearing on framing charges against ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and three others in the July-August crimes against humanity case is today, Monday (July 7). The hearing will be held at the three-member International Crimes Tribunal-1, headed by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder. Today, the state-appointed lawyer will hold a hearing on behalf of Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal. In the meantime, the only accused arrested in the case, former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, has been produced before the tribunal. Earlier, on July 1, the prosecution filed a request to start the trial of Sheikh Hasina and three others. On May 12, the tribunal’s investigation agency submitted a report to the prosecution against Sheikh Hasina and three others in the crimes against humanity case. On June 1, the tribunal took formal charges against Sheikh Hasina and three others into consideration. The three have been charged under the sections of superior command responsibility and joint criminal enterprise for inciting, instigating, and ordering the killing of 1,400 people in the suppression of the July-August protests.
