Headmaster sentenced to life imprisonment for raping student
A court has sentenced a teacher to life imprisonment for kidnapping and raping an SSC examinee in Natore. Judge Mohiduzzaman of the Rajshahi Speedy Trial Tribunal announced the verdict on Tuesday (November 11) afternoon. The accused, Firoz Ahmed (45), is the son of Golam Mostafa of Gurdaspur Police Station in Natore and the headmaster of Maryam Memorial Girls High School.
Confirming the matter, the court’s PP Advocate Munshi Abul Kalam Azad said, “The headmaster of the school, Firoz Ahmed, seduced a student and developed a love relationship. On the morning of October 1, 2022, when the student went to take a practical exam, he called her from in front of the school gate, picked her up in a microbus and abducted her. Later, passers-by witnessed the incident and informed the student’s family, who filed a case at the police station.
He further said, “After a long investigation, the police accused Firoz Ahmed and his two brothers and submitted a charge sheet to the court. After the hearing, the court found the headmaster guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment under one of the two sections and ten years of rigorous imprisonment under the other section.” However, PP Abul Kalam further said that his two brothers have been acquitted.
