Hamas will be forced to disarm: Trump
US President Donald Trump has warned that Hamas will be forced to disarm, by force if necessary, to end the war in Gaza. He made the warning while speaking to reporters on Tuesday (October 14). Reuters reported.
“If Hamas does not lay down their weapons, we will disarm them; violently if necessary,” Trump said. The US president’s previous statements suggest that Hamas may be allowed to have a limited role in Gaza.
It has already been reported that Hamas leaders have held direct meetings with US White House envoys, which are the highest-level meetings between the two sides.
However, on Tuesday (October 14) local time, Hamas released a video in which they are seen blindfolded, handcuffed and kneeling before shooting dead eight people. The Palestine Liberation Organization claimed that they identified the men as Israeli collaborators and shot them dead.
According to AFP, Hamas has launched operations against “Palestinian criminal groups and tribal groups” in Gaza since the ceasefire was signed. Trump has expressed his intention not to hand over control of Gaza to the organization.
