Grandmother dies after being hit by bus on way back from granddaughter’s wedding
Two people, including a woman, were killed in separate road accidents in Nakla and Bajitkhila areas of Sherpur. Five others were injured.
An elderly woman named Mohiron Begum died on the spot after being hit by a bus on her way back from her granddaughter’s wedding. The heartbreaking incident took place at Badagoir intersection in Nakla upazila of Sherpur.
She lost her life after being hit by a Sonar Bangla bus that left Dhaka on Saturday (September 27) night.
The deceased Mohiron Begum was the wife of the late Rafiz Uddin of Kucharchar village in Talki union number 7 of Nakla upazila. She was the mother of two daughters and a son.
On the other hand, a man named Achan Ali died on the spot after being hit by a Jhenaigati Express bus on his way back from Dhaka in Bajitkhila Battoli area of Sherpur Sadar upazila on Saturday (September 27) night. His house is in Paschim Kumri Bajitkhila area. He worked in a welding machine shop. At that time, four other passengers of the autorickshaw were seriously injured. Three of the injured have been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, Jhenaigati Express and Sonar Bangla bus were seized in Nakla, but the drivers fled.
Nakla Police Station OC Habibur Rahman and Sherpur Sadar Police Station OC Jobaidul Alam said that the two killer buses have been seized. The bodies have been sent to Sherpur District Hospital for autopsy. Preparations are underway to file a case.
