Government will not tolerate negligence or excuses in project implementation: Planning Advisor

From now on, the government will not accept any excuses for slow project work, Planning Advisor Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud said He said this at a briefing after the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting in Agargaon in the capital on Sunday (August 17). The Planning Advisor said that irregularities and corruption have occurred in the purified water supply project in Dhaka city. The project has been revised four times. Dhaka WASA is not working properly. The irregularities in this project will be found. ‘From now on, the government will not accept any excuses for slow project work. This message has been given to all ministries,’ added Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud. At that time, he said that more money is being spent on two more metro rail construction projects in the capital. But these agreements have already been made. Still, the government is negotiating with JICA to reduce costs. He further said that 10 projects worth Tk 6.5 billion, including reducing power system losses, have been approved in the ECNEC meeting. In addition, a project worth Tk 519 crore has been taken to establish a permanent campus of Rabindra University. This will be good for students and teachers. Regarding the controversy over the proposed land for the construction of the Rabindra University campus, the advisor said that wherever the project is implemented, there will be some environmental damage. On the other hand, there is also a benefit. The project has to be implemented in accordance with that. However, the campus will be built with an environmental clearance.
