Government not taking visible steps to ensure fair elections: Zubair
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Ehsan Mahbub Zubair has alleged that no effective steps have been taken yet to ensure a fair environment for the elections. He said this at a press conference at the party’s central office on Monday (February 9) afternoon.
Ehsan Mahbub Zubair claimed that there is no visible initiative from the administration to resolve the irregularities and fear that is being created in the field surrounding the elections. Our offices were set on fire last night. In Dhaka and Netrokona. However, there is no news that the administration has taken any initiative yet to identify the guilty.
The Jamaat Assistant Secretary General said that high-level officials of the administration in different districts of the country are not playing an effective role in providing equality. We have not seen any visible change from the administration yet. We want them not to be biased towards any party. They will refrain from leaning towards any particular party – this is our expectation.
However, several Jamaat leaders from different parts of the country have said that overall there is hope for a fair and acceptable election in the country. Voters from different parts of the country are returning to their respective homes to cast their votes and they are hopeful that the elections will be held with spontaneous participation.
